Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 2, 2026

Cadence is an adaptive reading app by Digital Adaption. It is designed to work without accounts, server-side document storage, or Cadence-hosted AI usage billing.

What Cadence stores

Cadence stores your documents, reading position, highlights, bookmarks, settings, reading statistics, AI provider settings, and optional bring-your-own AI key in your browser or app storage on your own device.

Documents and reading data

When you open an EPUB, PDF, MOBI, AZW, AZW3, pasted text, or shared text, Cadence processes it locally in the app. We do not upload your full documents to a Digital Adaption server.

Ask Cadence and AI providers

Local Ask searches your current document locally and does not send text to an AI provider.

Cloud Ask is optional. If you enable Cloud Ask, Cadence uses the AI provider and model you choose, with your own API key. Cadence retrieves a small set of relevant excerpts from the current document and sends those excerpts plus your question to your selected provider. The app asks for consent before Cloud Ask sends excerpts. Your use of a third-party AI provider is also covered by that provider's privacy policy and terms.

URL import

If you use article URL import, Cadence attempts to fetch the page you request so it can extract readable text. This may disclose your request to the website you entered and to normal network infrastructure needed to retrieve that page.

Accounts, payments, and analytics

Cadence does not require a Cadence account. The current app does not include Digital Adaption analytics, advertising trackers, or Cadence-hosted AI metering. If you buy Cadence through an app store, payment is handled by that app store.

Local storage disclosure

Cadence uses browser or app storage, including localStorage and the Cache API, to save settings, progress, locally queued documents, highlights, bookmarks, reading statistics, optional AI provider settings, and offline app files. This data stays on your device unless you choose Cloud Ask or article URL import.

Your choices

You can remove locally stored Cadence data by clearing the app or browser storage for Cadence. You can remove an AI key at any time from the Cloud Ask settings inside the app.
